mommy of the week: aislinn r.
Meet Aislinn from our Leslieville location! Aislinn is a runner & avid exerciser; she wondered if BB would be challenging enough, so she started with a trial class last fall and has been training ever since. Aislinn is focused and never misses a beat, even when baby Charlotte wants to be part of the workout. Thanks, Aislinn!
What brought you to BB? How long did you train?
I heard great things about BB from a couple of friends. I wanted to try a new kind of workout that I could do during the day with my daughter. To be honest, having tried another type of mom and baby fitness class which I found to be more stressful than worth it, I was a bit skeptical about BB before I started. I have been more than pleasantly surprised. BB is a killer workout in a comfortable environment that enables moms both to keep their babies/children close by, and also to incorporate them into their workout. I started BB in November of 2014 and hope to continue until I go back to work in the spring.
What results have you experienced?
I have generally felt stronger since I started BB. I (think) I have regained some of the muscle tone that I lost during pregnancy when I wasn't doing as much strength training. I have found that the exercises we do at BB challenge my body in a new and different way than I'm used to from other activities which is a great and welcome change.
How do you stay active outside of BB?
I run, spin and swim, and have recently gone back to hot yoga. Being active is hugely important to my emotional and physical well-being. My husband and I make it a priority to make sure that each of us is able to carve out time to workout - we're better parents, spouses and people when we are active.
What is your #1 fitness goal now?
I would love to do a triathlon one day. It is also a lifelong goal to become more bendy - I have never been able to touch my toes!
Fave healthy food?
My current favourite is roasted cauliflower and chickpea salad.
Fave BB exercise?
Lunges or squats with my daughter in the Ergo carrier.
Exercise you want to punch in the face?
I am not a fan of the burpee. They get me every time.
Last splurge food or drink?
I regularly splurge on chocolate chip cookies and red wine. They are my weaknesses.
You in 5 words. Go!
Determined. Sentimental. Loving. Sensitive. Analytical.
